The trumpeter from Bad Säckingen

It's a long time ago since I posted and I promised to tell Cristina the story from the Trumpeter from Bad Säckingen (my town; yes we have a real castle and our own play).

Franz Werner Kirchhofer - the Trumpeter - was the seventh child and was born on the 1st April of 1633. He was 2 years old when his dad died. It was a hard time during the 30 years long battle. With 19 he had the possiblity to go to college, but after a year he came back to Bad Säckingen, where he met Maria Ursula of Schönau, the earl's daughter. (In the play her name is Margareta.) She also lost her fahter very early, but her older brother and her uncle were against the marriage. They forced the young man to leave the town and they broke the contact between the young countess and her sweetheart. Finally Franz Werner Kirchhofer arrived in Rome where he played the trumpet for the pontifex. The young countess was so sad that her aunt took her on a pilgrimage to Rome. There she listened to the - now famous - song from the Trumpeter from Bad Säckingen - which was dedicated to her and she recognized her sweetheart. When they told her sad story to the pontifex he was deeply moved and Franz Werner Kirchhofer became aristocratic. After the marriage in Rome they came back to Bad Säckingen and lived there happy and for a long time.

A part of the play is out of a true story that happened but nobody knows the real end.

And here a few pictures from our little castle and the statue of the Trumpeter from Bad Säckingen:

Cristina is here...

Cristina is here. She arrived good in Munich on Tuesday and we have so much fun. Wednesday we visited Lucerne in Switzerland. Since Cristina arrived the weather is like in winter. We got so much snow - we didn't got that much even in January and February together - and it is very cold again, but it will be warmer and spring is back right when Cristina is leaving. Isn't that funny? Yesterday she visited Damaris Koch and spent a night in their house. While I am posting, Cristina is writing in her Travel Journal...maybe we'll get a look in there...?! Tomorrow we will visit one of the most expensive cities, Zürich. And we will see more cities, maybe Salzburg in Austria. Since now we have a lot of fun, trying to learn German, laughing, watching movies like "Bend it like Beckham" and "Eloise" (so C.has something to talk about with Ruthann ) - just having fun!

I will post more later. Here are a few pictures from Lucerne.

And the Oscar goes to...

...yes, Germany got one! The best Foreign Language Film was THE LIVES OF OTHERS

florian-henckelvondonnersmarck Oscars

FILM SYNOPSIS

In East Berlin in 1984, the secret police organization, Stasi, conducts extensive surveillance operations against any East German citizen suspected of opposing the Communist regime. When Captain Gerd Weisler begins monitoring the daily life of the playwright Georg Dreyman, he finds himself increasingly unwilling to betray his subject's private moments to his superiors.

This theme is still currently and a part of our history that happened not long ago! In my last year in school we were talking about the 20th century and everytime I felt so sorry about the Germans were doing. It is one of the darkest chapter in history but a verse from my father:

When you don't learn from the history, you are doomed to repeat it! Germany needs God...

My Princess...Your Life Is A Symphony

He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be astounded. They will put their trust in the Lord. Psalm 40:3

You are to Me a beautiful song. Your life is a sweet symphony that I myself am composing note by note. I take your failures, your tears, and your triumphs, and I turn them into a glorious harmony that will be sung in the heavens for all eternity. All your thoughts and deeds are laid before Me like notes on a page. Every choice you make is a significant chord in an eternal arrangement. Don't let the noise of the world destroy your magnificent melody, My beloved. Seek Me in the quiet stillness of the morning, and I will fill your heart with divine music. Stay in rhythm with My Spirit throughout the day, and I will make your life an irresistible medley that will linger like sweet perfume in the hearts of all that journey with you. Walk with Me in absolute surrender, and you will draw others to Me in a rhapsody of praise.

Love, Your King and your Composer

I always love to read the little book from Sheri Rose Shepherd with all the little love letters from My King, who really loves me and shows me his love everyday again.

I met a violin professor, who offered me to study with me, especially violin technique. So I can concentrate on repertoire with my teacher who is a soloist. God is great!
